Sheffield Park & Garden

UCKFIELD, EAST SUSSEX
October 2023

We are feeling inspired this season by all the wonderful colours autumn has to offer.  We headed over to Sheffield Park & Garden this month which is renowned for the trees being abalaze with reds, burnt oranges and yellows at this time of year, although even though it was mid-October, it still felt like a summers day!  Some of the trees had started to turn though, and we captured some inspiring photos to share with you.

Acres of Grade I Listed landscape garden and lakes, surrounded by historic parkland and woodland.

Sheffield Park & Garden is a National Trust estate of horticultural and historical interest in East Sussex.  Walking around the park and garden we were able to capture natural influences that reflected the season to bring back to the design studio.

A concept created inspired by our visit to Sheffield Park & Garden

Our most interesting finding of our visit had to be the very large mushrooms growing beneath the trees in the woodland area, and we have focused on the colour and texture to use as a calming neutral for our concept scheme.  The mushrooms are reflected through the shape and tones of the side table, which is complemented by the contemporary woven wood chair which echoes the woodland.

The colours we captured were of soft burnt oranges and warm moss greens which we have introduced to the design through accents of thows, cushions and organic shaped statement bedside lamps.  The fabric on the headboard features autumnal illustrations, and the wall panelling is reminisent of a country home that may befit this setting.

Visiting Sheffield Park & Garden

Sheffield Park, Uckfield, East Sussex, TN22 3QX

If you are planning to visit the park and garden yourself, and would like to capture the renowned autumn colours, the season is from mid-September to mid-November, and you may need to book a car parking space during this busy period, so we would recommend that you check the National Trust website for up-to-date information before visiting.  There is a café to enjoy, and a book shop and plant shop to explore.  But most importantly, adventuring around the garden which features bridges, lakes and cascades is a wonderful way to spend the day.
